THE UNIVERSE
In a land far, far away… Krypt Kitties enjoy midnight balls, cat napping in the moonlight, and bloody tasty mice treats. Welcome to Castle Sanguis! This world, not quite unlike our own, is rife with playful personalities, insidious secrets and a few surprises in store for everyone who ventures through its gothic gates.
There are three different types of Krypt Kitties who live in these grand halls - the Familiars, the Vampires, and the hallowed Council Members. Each type has its own distinct role in this world, which is held in perfect balance by the eternal and all-seeing eyes of the Kitty Council. The feasts are decadent, the music is haunting and the games are plenty! Come and enjoy the good life - blood, guts and all!
MAIN CHARACTERS
Among the many Krypt Kitties in Castle Sanguis, there are two particular kitties who often find themselves in heaps of trouble. Meet Bea and Silas - our resident wannabe superstars! Sometimes their antics get them into sticky situations, but don’t discount them yet! Who knows, they just might make it…
Bea
Bea is a fluffy, gray female Krypt Kitty who loves to indulge in the easy life! There’s nothing better than a day of snapping photos for her (small) but growing following of enthusiastic kitty loverz. Daring and excitable, Bea makes sure that it’s never a boring time!
Silas
Silas is a silky, tan male Krypt Kitty who fancies himself a bit of a casanova - although not a very successful one. If there’s one thing our little kitty has, it’s a big heart! He’s a lot fabulous, a little dumb, and always trying to show off the newest magic trick he’s learned on KittyTube.
The story so far...
Becoming a Vampire
A long time ago… the original vampire kitties came together to form the Council. Using a transformative process that`s been refined over time - the Council has slowly grown their community of vampires. Familiars (i.e. regular kitties) enter Castle Sanguis with the hopes of one day being chosen for "The Transformation." An event in which they are taken into a secret chamber and given a little cat bite, a drop of serum (brewed in the apothecary), and fall into a dreamless death-sleep. A few days later, they wake up stronger, faster, and with a dangerous new appetite.
The lives of the Krypt Kitties thus far have been easy and peaceful, but something is brewing. Somewhere deep in the belly of the castle, there is a force that even the Council could not predict…

ABOUT
The collection
Krypt Kitties is a collection of 31,000 vampire kitties created by a team of like-minded individuals who love delving into all the nitty gritty details of world building. There are three factions that currently exist - the Familiars, the Vampires, and the Council Members. By creating a set of rules for generative production, we were able to assign certain traits to the different groups. For example, Familiars don’t have wings whereas Vampires and Council Members do!

Creating the project
As a team, we’re determined to deliver not only a collection of images but a universe of lore, secrets to unearth, and a thread to follow deep into Castle Sanguis. In developing Krypt Kitties, we’ve seen a lot of ideas come and go. The project itself somewhat resembled a start-up - sometimes things work, sometimes things don’t! It’s a matter of trying and testing and moving forward. We started out tweeting traditional Western form comics, before moving onto a more experimental format. Our ideas and experience developing the art helped inform us with the animation process for our website video. Everything started to feed into each other and thankfully, with a hardworking team, we’ve been able to see some real results and that’s been exciting!! We can’t wait to continue to develop new drops, storylines and characters for everyone’s enjoyment.
